Realism is often misinterpreted as pessimism. Both rely on past experience in addition to varying degrees of logic which helps to put events and scenarios into context. This is an exponential process as the outcome of each aids the prediction of the next. The conclusion reached will differ depending on the sum total of those previous life experiences, their outcomes and the reliability of the logic applied. The level of attributable logic and the way in which it is utilized coupled with a true understanding of what once was, in keeping with context, will determine whether you arrive at a realistic, pessimistic or even optimistic conclusion.
The problem is that each variable has variables of its own. Hockney said there is no such thing as “objectively”. I believe him. Actually.

The arrangement of hue and form coupled with what you have learnt in your life so far has led your brain to believe it is seeing something that isn’t actually there.
